Joondalup Health Campus Development Stage 2

Development staging 2021-2025
In progress
  • Expand the emergency department to include 12 new bays.
  • Create a three bed specialised urgent care clinic to operate as a behavioural assessment urgent care clinic.
  • Expand the existing multi-storey staff car park by constructing an additional level to create 215 more parking bays.
Planned
  • Upgrade the Central Energy Plant. This infrastructure and associated services such as power, water and gas supply serves the many buildings on the campus.
  • Build a multi-storey public car park. The new five-level car park will increase available cark parking bays for the community.
  • Partial demolition of the existing Community Mental Health Building and relocation of the Joondalup Community Mental Health Service to a new location. These works are required to prepare the site for construction of the new Mental Health Unit.
  • Construction works commence on the campus areas where the new Mental Health Unit will be built, followed by construction of the new building. During construction the existing mental health unit will operate as normal in its current building.
  • Build one new operating theatre and a new cardiac catheterisation laboratory.
  • Build a new, public inpatient ward block with 30 medical/surgical and cardiac care inpatient beds and an additional 60 shelled beds to meet future demand (90 beds) plus six new critical care beds.
  • Refurbish some existing hospital areas including the patient discharge lounge, day therapy unit and other associated services.
