Joondalup Health Campus
Part of Ramsay Health Care

For Medical Students

Joondalup Health Campus (JHC) is an exciting place to work.

JHC is a general hospital in Perth's northern suburbs that offers a comprehensive range of medical and surgical services, including emergency, intensive care, maternity, neonatal and paediatric services, a stroke unit, and one of the largest mental health facilities in the state.

JHC is managed by Australia's largest private hospital operator, Ramsay Health Care, and has a long-standing public-private partnership agreement with the State Government.

The future couldn't be brighter for JHC as the hospital works towards broadening and strengthening the current clinical services with a forward focus on medical and surgical sub-specialities.

At JHC, you'll gain great experience across a wide range of specialties with a varied case mix. You'll be surrounded by supportive consultants with easily accessed, protected teaching time. You will also have fun within a great team environment and fantastic culture.

Interns

JHC directly employs a select group of interns through the state pool, and we are the only hospital in Western Australia that employs interns via the private health stream. Interns can also be seconded from Sir Charles Gardiner Hospital.

RMOs

Our junior doctors are offered high-quality teaching in a friendly, fast-paced general hospital environment.

Doctors are valued

We pride ourselves on our excellent relationships with doctors throughout the organisation. We recognise that looking after you as a person with a life outside of work is as important as looking after you as a worker. Ramsay Health Care's motto is 'people caring for people' – and this extends beyond patients to how we care for each other.

Clinical Support

JHC provides extensive clinical support for our doctors. We have clinical documentation specialists who assist with discharge summaries, a vascular access service, and clinical care navigators who guide junior doctors through hospital procedures and systems.

Specialty training pathways

With quarantined teaching time, JHC also offers specialist training positions in general surgery, orthopaedics, obstetrics, paediatrics, emergency medicine, general medicine, psychiatry, anaesthesia, intensive care, DRAC, neurology, infectious diseases, palliative care, urology, and ENT. We can also help you meet the paediatric and emergency medicine requirements for general practice training.

Access to protected teaching time

Interns and RMOs have two hours of protected teaching time each week provided by Postgraduate Medical Education. In addition to this, each specialty has quarantined departmental teaching time.

Research

JHC has more than 110 research projects underway, including 19 clinical trials in areas diverse as oncology, physiotherapy, orthopaedics and vascular surgery.
