The General Medicine service led by Dr Stephen Richards, prides itself on its inclusive, collaborative and evidence-based approach to patient care. You will gain experience in internal medicine across a broad range of patient ages and diagnoses owing to the dominance of the general physician model of care at JHC. All levels of staff are respected and involved in patient care and consultants are approachable, willing to teach and available to junior staff.

This position provides and promotes high quality and patient centred care to all patients within Joondalup Health Campus outside of business hours in conjunction with specialty teams, and under the supervision of consultant medical staff; works under the supervision and within a multi-disciplinary team to review the medical needs of the patients; assists with teaching and support to Resident Medical Officers (RMOs) and Interns.

The position will provide support and supervision of junior medical staff and attend hospital medical emergencies after hours throughout the hospital. Specialist support is available from consultants within the hospital and on call.

JHC is looking to employ a suitably experienced clinician to join the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Team. In this role you will join a team in one of the fastest growing areas in Australia. You will work with an established team of Consultant Obstetricians & Gynaecologists, ITP trainees, SMO, CMO and RMO to provide in-hours care and on-call services for a diverse range of obstetric and gynaecological patients with 4000+ public births per annum.

JHC provides both neonatal and general Paediatrics service, has a family friendly, vibrant 37-bed Telethon Children’s Ward, which complements a recent upgrade to its Level 2B Special Care Nursery. With more than 4000 babies born at JHC each year, including a high proportion that are born following high-risk pregnancies, this position will provide substantial experience for the right candidate. We have a large focus on research which includes the ORIGINS intervention community birth cohort. We are accredited for advanced training with a neonatal component. We have a strong emphasis on teaching along with a consultant led service.

Mental Health Services at JHC consist of a 47 bed public Mental Health Unit with 37 voluntary and 10 involuntary beds, a 10-bed Mental Health Observation Area (MHOA) adjacent to the JHC Emergency Department and a consultation-liaison service. The MHU is an accredited placement for trainees in Psychiatry and a placement site for medical students enrolled in the graduate program at the University of Western Australia. Each multidisciplinary inpatient team is headed by a psychiatrist accredited for trainee supervision. Working at JHC provides experience across the range of classified adult psychiatric disorders.
