JHC offers a first class paediatric service

Joondalup Health Campus’ (JHC) team of highly experienced paediatricians combined with the hospital’s modern facilities makes for a first class paediatric service.

Together our team treats young patients (aged from birth through to 16 years of age) suffering from a wide range of medical conditions. Paediatric patients also have access to elective general surgery, gastroenterology, neurology, ophthalmology and ENT. We also provide elective and non-elective orthopaedic surgery and plastic surgery.

The $12.1million Telethon Children’s Ward opened in June 2016. The 37-bed ward includes a 10-bed Day Procedure Unit, 20 single rooms, two double rooms and a triple room as well as an isolation room for children with highly infectious diseases. The ward is a bright, colourful, nature-themed space featuring a giant tropical aquarium and cloud ‘skylights’, alongside many other features designed to bring elements of nature indoors.

The ward also caters for the needs of parents with each room including a day bed where parents can more comfortably rest. JHC also has a dedicated 11-bay paediatric area within the hospital’s ED and a 16-cot level 2b Neonatal Nursery, which can care for babies as early as 32 weeks gestation.

The hospital has 24/7 paediatric registrar cover enabling us to treat more complex cases. Although we care for paediatric patients on high flow oxygen patients and neonates on CPAP, acutely ill patients requiring ventilation are transferred to PMH.
