Emergency Department
JHC is the largest healthcare facility in Perth's northern suburbs, providing 24-hour acute care from an integrated public and private hospital campus. JHC's Emergency Department is one of the busiest in Western Australia.
Our well-staffed ED currently treats over 90,000 patients a year (25% paediatrics) with a truly interesting and diverse case mix. We have comprehensive radiology and pathology services and excellent on-site support from a range of in-patient specialties.
The new and expanded $29 million Emergency Department was opened in February 2011 and houses 56 patient bays – an 86 per cent increase on the previous department. These include 30 adult treatment bays, a 12-bed emergency admission area for patients requiring observation, an 11-bed paediatric treatment and observation area and three resuscitation bays including a combined adult and paediatric resuscitation bay.
The Joondalup ED team is supported by a uniquely understanding hospital culture with a flexible roster structure. We are accredited by ACEM as an urban district department for 24 months advanced training, including the paediatric log book.
We run comprehensive education programmes for Primary and Fellowship candidates as well as an active weekly CME programme for all staff. Clinical Support Time is highly valued and protected. FACEMs are well supported and encouraged to develop their specific areas of interest and expertise.
Remuneration is in line with the current AMA WA award with additional allowances and superior conditions that significantly enhance the package that we offer. Please contact us for details.
We welcome enquiries from FACEMs and advanced trainees who have recently completed the fellowship exam.
