If you wish to visit a patient, please use the intercoms located outside the unit's doors, stating your name and the patient you are here to see. We will answer as soon as possible but there may be a delay if we are attending to patient care.
When coming to visit, if the patient's curtain is closed that is an indicator that there is care being performed that requires dignity and respect. Please return to the lounge until the room is accessible.
Visits are limited to close family and friends with no more than two visitors at a time. Children are to be closely supervised at all times.
Appropriate footwear is required at all times (no bare feet).
Mobile phones are not to be used in the unit.
Flowers and food are not permitted in the unit and drinks must have a lid.
Each visitor must use the hand sanitiser located next to the unit entrance doors before and after visitation.
If you have a cough, fever, runny nose or rash, the best thing you can do for your loved one is to avoid visiting. If you are unsure, please ask a nurse for advice.
Although flowers can be a thoughtful way to show you care, we are unable to allow fresh flowers inside the ICU, HDU or CCU.
Food and drinks
To provide a safer environment, and in respect for patients who are unable to eat, please do not bring food into the unit. Hot drinks and bottled water are allowed on the condition they have a lid.
Your loved one’s room has sophisticated equipment that is probably unfamiliar to you. Our staff can explain how we’re using it to treat your loved one but we ask that these items are not handled.
If you have any concerns, please don’t hesitate to liaise with staff , who are more than happy to assist wherever possible.
