Faces of Joondalup – Louise Harrison Wade

Feb 28, 2025

Joondalup Health Campus (JHC) has celebrated its first graduates of the Ramsay Enrolled Nurse (EN) to Registered Nurse (RN) Transition Pathway.

Run in conjunction with Charles Darwin University, it is one of the many ways Ramsay Health Care (RHC) develops the skills of its workforce and helps staff achieve their professional ambitions.

One of the four JHC graduates, Louise Harrison Wade, began the two-year Enrolled Nurse Graduate Pathways Program at JHC in 2022 as a mature student who was finally realising her ambition of becoming a nurse after years running her own business and starting a family.

The first year of the Graduate Pathway is a foundational year and the second is a developmental year. It was then that Ms Harrison Wade began the Ramsay EN to RN Transition Pathway.

“The Graduate Pathways Program offers a permanent contract which made it irresistible, and as a mature age student I was keen to progress my career as quickly as possible,” said Ms Harrison Wade.

“I love working for RHC as the culture and atmosphere is positive. Everyone helps each other out with the main focus being good patient care. I feel very lucky to have participated in the Grad program.”

Ms Harrison Wade has had experience in the surgical and rehabilitation and aged care wards and is currently working on the respiratory ward where she continues to assume more responsibility including supporting students on placements.

Longer term, Ms Harrison Wade is keen to broaden her skill set as a RN, complete a Clinical Enhancement Program for the Emergency Department or Coronary Care Unit, and complete a Masters degree.

“Most of all, I want to have contact with patients and provide excellent care to them,” said Ms Harrison Wade.

All ENs employed by JHC are eligible to apply for the EN to RN Transition Pathway. For more information visit the Ramsay Careers website.
