New screening at Joondalup Health Campus

From Monday 3 August Joondalup Health Campus will be introducing a new screening process for all visitors, patients and contractors. This will include answering questions and a temperature check.

In line with our parent company, Ramsay Health Care, the hospital will be using the Ramsay smartphone tool to streamline this new screening process at our entry points.

If you are a visitor, patient or contractor you will need do the following:

Step 1 Hold your smartphone camera up to the QR Code which can be found on posters and floor stickers at entrance points. Simply hover the camera over the code as if you were going to take a photo of it.
Step 2 Click the link that pops up on your screen and simply follow the prompts
Step 3 Answer all questions
Step 4 Show your phone confirmation to a screening staff member
Step 5 Screening staff will then take your temperature and may ask a couple of extra questions 

Do I have to wait until I arrive at the hospital to do the online questionnaire?

You don’t have to wait until you arrive to do this – you can complete this at home but you must do it on the day you are visiting as the code is only valid for 24 hours.

What if I don’t have a smartphone?

If you don’t have a smartphone, don’t worry – we have friendly staff members who will assist you.

What questions will be asked?

1. What area of the hospital are you going to?

2. Have you ever been diagnosed with COVID-19?

3. Have you been in close contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case in the past 14 days?

4. Have you been formally identified as a close contact of a confirmed case?

5. Are you unwell with any cold or flu-like symptoms including: fevers, cough, vomiting, diarrhoea, night sweats or chills, or acute respiratory infection including cough shortness of breath or sore throat?

6. Have you travelled overseas in the past 14 days?

7. Have you travelled interstate in the past 14 days?

8. Are you here on a Good2Go pass?

What happens to personal information collected?

As Australia’s largest private hospital operator, we are experienced with safely and securely storing large amounts of personal and confidential information of our customers. The information entered into our secure system through this screening process will be stored for a maximum of 30 days and then will be deleted.  It is not deleted immediately as some states require a visitor log to be held for a period of time.

Why is this happening now?

JHC has decided to be even more proactive by ramping up its process for screening to protect patients and staff in the hospital.  This new measure is designed to keep our patients, visitors and staff safe.  

Where exactly are the screening points at JHC?

The main public and private receptions will have staff managing this process and staff are asked to direct all visitors, patients and contractors to these entrances.

Our Mental Health Unit and Emergency Department will also screen visitors at the entrance to these areas. 

Some of our support areas, such as engineering and supplies will also be screening contractors in their departments.
