Proud JHC nurse Emma Congerton shares knowledge and support in ED

May 12, 2023

Emma Congerton began her career at Joondalup Health Campus (JHC) in 2006 as a graduate enrolled nurse and moved to Emergency Department (ED) in 2008 after graduating as a registered nurse. She is now an ED clinical nurse specialist managing the paediatric portfolio.

A passionate nurse of 17 years, Emma continues to enjoy the new challenges that arise each and every shift.

“I am passionate toward emergency nursing and the autonomy that it brings,” Emma said.

“The JHC ED is such a dynamic working environment where nurses have the ability to provide care to neonatal, paediatric and adult patients with such a variety of presenting complaints. No day is the same and you never know what you will be faced with each shift.”

Emma’s role involves providing advanced clinical skill, experience, knowledge, and support to the ED multidisciplinary team, implementing and supporting departmental change, and promoting quality patient centred care.

“I am proud to work for Ramsay Health Care at JHC. Every day our nurses show up demonstrating their passion for nursing and a willingness to help others,” she said.

“The nursing team at Ramsay are supportive and encouraging of one another. Ramsay has supported my professional development and provided me with lots of opportunities to work in various clinical and leadership roles.”

Emma is currently undertaking her nurse practitioner degree, harnessing the strong support and encouragement that currently exists for further integration of nurse practitioners.

“It is an exciting opportunity to show how valuable nurses can be in the delivery of quality patient care,” she said. “RHC has been very supportive in the implementation of nurse practitioners over the past 15 years within the Emergency Department.”

Such is the strength of the bonds with her nursing colleagues that Emma’s passion for exploring through travel, camping and snorkelling is often done with lifelong friends that she has made through her career as a nurse at JHC.
