Faces of Ramsay - Julie Jackson

Mar 07, 2024

Julie Jackson is the Training and Development Manager at Joondalup Health Campus (JHC) and finds nothing more satisfying than watching people grow within their roles.

Julie commenced at JHC as one of the inaugural Staff Development Nurses (SDN) in 2006 and has been successful in her roles as Enrolled Nurse Graduate Facilitator and Graduate Coordinator prior to being appointed to her current leadership position in 2022.

“Some members of my training and development team were graduates when I was either SDN or Graduate Coordinator and to see where they are now, knowing that I have contributed in some way, gives me great job satisfaction,” Julie said.

Born, raised and trained in Yorkshire in the UK, Julie’s experience spans surgical and orthopaedics specialties, but she has always had a particular interest in supporting the development of others.

This interest is what attracted her to join JHC in 2006, as part of the team that supports nursing development.

Julie and her team facilitate the strategic objectives of the organisation, promote patient safety and staff career development by creating, implementing, and evaluating education programs for clinical and non-clinical staff.

A focus on adult learning principles and gaining an understanding of what motivates staff is pivotal to providing successful training and development.

The Ramsay Way philosophy of “people caring for people,” and specifically our commitment to engaging and developing our people alongside the continued growth of the hospital underpins the team’s work.

One of Julies’ goals is to continue to promote interdepartmental training and sharing of resources at JHC to improve access to professional development opportunities and strengthen the great team work culture.

Like many of the JHC team, Julie enjoys working close to home and contributing to her local community through health care delivery.

“I am blessed to work with an amazing team who make my job so much easier than it could be,” she said.

“JHC still has very much a community feel despite all the expansions that have occurred and there is always someone to smile at or say hello to when walking around the hospital.”
