Our Staff: Employee Benefits

Vacation Care

JHC has operated a vacation care program for primary school-aged children since December 2000.  The program was the first of its kind to be workplace based in a WA hospital.

The program operates for all four periods of WA school holidays and includes covering any pupil free days that occur on the first day of each term.  It is open to all staff members of JHC.

Staffed by qualified childcare workers, vacation care is available from 06:30am to 6.30pm Monday to Friday (full and half days are available). During the redevelopment of the hospital, the program runs from either the main campus conference room or the nearby Joondalup Family Centre.

Much of the programs success is due to the professionalism of the staff, who continually reassess the program in order to provide high-quality care. The program comprises of activities aimed at getting kids back to the basics of fun and play and includes many excursions to local parks, the cinema and other educational or outdoor activities.

As an accredited and licensed program child care benefit is available to individuals (upon application) to subsidise fees.

All policies comply with the Child Care Services (Outside School Hours Care ) Regulations 2006,  WA Child Care Licensing and Standards Unit. Child Care Licensing also performs spot checks to ensure compliance with standards.

The service is also accredited by the National Child Care Accreditation Council and in both assessments in 2007 & 2010 the program achieved high quality in all eight principles.

The program is continually evaluated including stakeholder satisfaction surveys and all feedback is welcome.
