Our Hospital: History
History
JHC was established in June 1996 when the Western Australian Government appointed Health Care of Australia to operate the existing Wanneroo Hospital and transform it into a modern health care facility.
The project involved refurbishing and extending the existing public hospital; the construction of a new private hospital, emergency department, specialist medical centre and community health centre; and providing the local residents access to a greater range of health care services.
JHC is now operated by Ramsay Health Care (RHC) – Australia’s largest private hospital operator - which owns and operates over 66 hospitals and day surgery units in Australia, 38 hospitals in the UK, three hospitals in Indonesia and one in France. In Western Australia, RHC also operates Hollywood, Glengarry and Attadale Private Hospitals.
Staff at JHC treat public and private patients. The hospital has treated public patients on behalf of the State Government since 1996 under a long standing and successful contract.
