Our Staff: Our Educational Opportunities

Continuing Education Programs

The education programs offered by the Education and Research Unit are comprehensive and aim to provide a range of learning opportunities. These include IV cannulation and venepuncture, intermediate and advanced life support programs, diabetes study days, cardiac courses, senior nurse development days and clinical skill update days.

We continue to offer dementia study days in conjunction with the Alzheimer’s Association. JHC is involved in the employer engagement program with the WA Dementia Training Study Centre at the Centre for Research on Ageing, Curtin University of Technology, where the study centre recognise organisations who demonstrate a commitment to developing a career pathway for health professionals in the care of people with dementia.

The Education and Research Unit facilitate many courses in the JHC simulation venue, providing many multi-professional learning opportunities, including an Advanced Life Support program which is accredited with the Australian Resuscitation Council.

Since 2007, the Education and Research Unit learning programs have been made accessible to nursing and medical staff working within the wider health community.

Joondalup Health Campus also supports their employees in attending educational opportunities that are not provided within the campus through access to study leave and financial support. Providing the opportunity to experience a variety of learning opportunities through external study support is an important aspect of enhancing the knowledge and skills of all staff, which in turn ensures knowledge and implementation of best practice which ultimately leads to improved patient outcomes.
