Joondalup patients benefit with new online imaging system
30 September 2011
Joondalup Health Campus is taking patient care to a new level with the introduction of PRC Direct.
Developed by Perth Radiological Clinic (PRC), PRC Direct enables doctors to view patients’ medical images and reports instantaneously over a secure online network.
Managing Radiologist at Joondalup Health Campus, Dr Martin Marshall, said the new online system will have a major impact on the management of long term diseases as doctors will have immediate access to all of their patients’ imaging results.
Features of the system include access to priority reports, patient history transfers, and digital imaging.
“PRC Direct, provides instantaneous, secure access to doctors to view their patients radiology results. PRC has integrated this high end system with our advanced electronic archiving system and long term storage of images, ensuring results are available at the click of a button,” Dr Marshall said.
“Doctors can also securely access their patients results on the move with the direct iPhone/iPad application, specifically developed by the experts in the PRC IT department.”
“In addition, the new system will dramatically reduce the need for hard copy films which is great news for the environment.”
“We strive to continuously improve the way we work for the benefit of our patients,” said Joondalup Health Campus Chief Executive Officer, Mr Kempton Cowan.
“This system will be installed in our 12 new state-of-the-art operating theatres next year as part of our $393 million expansion program, ensuring surgeons have access to online images at the touch of a button.”
PRC Direct has been used in the Joondalup Health Care Emergency Department since June and will be accessible in the new operating theatres in 2012.
