The new State Government, which was elected to office at the March 2017 election, is committed to the expansion of JHC with a pre-election promise of $167 million to cover:
90 new public hospital inpatient beds 25-30 mental health beds
Eight new operating theatres Expanded Emergency Department An Urgent Care Clinic
A Medihotel
A six-bed Stroke Unit More car parking
Since taking office the Labor Government moved swiftly to sign a Statement of Intent with Ramsay Health Care to signal its intent to proceed with the project.
The Government identified the JHC expansion as one of its top priorities. High level negotiations have now commenced and master planning is well underway.
