The Oncology and Haematology Unit was awarded Look Good Feel Better’s National Venue of the Year, beating more than 180 health facilities nationwide and becoming the first WA organisation to win the award.

The ‘ORIGINS’ project received approval from the Ethics Committee. This landmark project will be run at JHC in partnership with Telethon Kids Institute and will study children and their parents in an effort to prevent chronic disease, both in childhood and later in life.

Leader of the Opposition Mark McGowan visited JHC to announce a pre-election commitment of $167 million for a proposed hospital expansion.
A mass advertising campaign featuring HESTA Nurse of the Year (2016) Angie Monk saw the JHC Blood Management Nurse starring on TV and online commercials throughout February.

Following the State election, the newly elected WA Premier Mark McGowan lists the JHC expansion as being in his top ten priorities.
Cardiologist Dr Justin Ng inserted the first subcutaneous implantable defibrillator at JHC. The relatively new technology can help save people at high risk of sudden cardiac death.

For a third year running JHC was named winner of the national Ramsay Health Care Safe Work Australia Month Annual Award Competition.

JHC received an ‘A+’ for morale and culture in the AMA (WA) Doctors-in- Training Hospital Health Check. It is the third year running the hospital has received an ‘A’ grade.
Theatres enrolled nurse Susan Dugay was named winner of the Excellence in Enrolled Nursing category at the 2017 WA Nursing & Midwifery Excellence Awards.
Graduate Coordinator Julie Jackson and Registered Nurse Graduate Facilitator Maggie Husain won Ramsay Health Care’s HESTA Innovation in Education Award for the success of a program they developed which helps enrolled nurses transition to registered nursing.
