At JHC we are committed to improving the health services we provide
to our community. As part of our continual improvement process, we aim to partner with our patients and actively seek their feedback.
Each year JHC participates in the Patient Evaluation of Health Services (PEHS) survey run by the Department of Health, Western Australia. We use the feedback we receive from our patients through these surveys
to help us make improvements. Here’s a snapshot of how we performed at the last survey and what we’ve done to improve.
YOU SAID WE DID WELL WITH:
Time and attention paid to patient care.
Information and communication, including information about medication, results, care and treatment.
Meeting personal needs, including
how patients and family members are treated and respected.
Continuity of
care, including communication between health care professionals and discharge information.
YOU SAID WE COULD IMPROvE:
getting
into hospital and knowing where to go
being made aware of the patient charter of rights
Residential aspects including amenities and facilities
SO, WE HAvE BEEN DOING:
++
Construction on the expansion of the Emergency Department (ED) waiting room is currently underway to improve your experience with us by creating a more comfortable environment.
As part of the waiting
room expansion, improved signage is being developed for you and your family to better understand the triage process in the ED.
A new multi- storey car park is planned to make it easier for you to access to the hospital.
The Australian Charter of Healthcare Rights brochure outlining your rights while in hospital is better promoted during the admission process and signage has been improved in the waiting room and clinical areas of the ED.
Cleanliness audits are undertaken during peak times to ensure a high standard of cleanliness is maintained throughout the hospital.
WE’vE ALSO BEEN WORKING ON:
Implementing
a new IT system aimed at reducing the time it takes for you to move from the ED to
a ward.
Constructing a Mental Health Observation Area next to the ED which will provide care in a more appropriate setting for patients presenting with acute mental illness. Once complete, this will free up
beds in the main ED.
Undertaking
a series of projects aimed at improving efficiency, particularly reducing delays for our patients.
