Changes to parking arrangements at Joondalup Health Campus

Nov 01, 2021

Patients and visitors to Joondalup Health Campus (JHC) are being encouraged to allow some extra time to find parking on the campus from Thursday 25 November 2021 when the main public car park (P1) located outside the public hospital reception temporarily closes.

Car park P1 will be closed for approximately one year to undergo a major expansion that will see it become a new multi-storey car park with hundreds of extra car bays.

In the meantime, car park P9 which is accessible from both Shenton Avenue and Lakeside Drive, will become the main public car park for patients and visitors.

A courtesy shuttle bus will operate daily from 5.30am to 8.15pm to transport people to and from car park P9 with stops out the front of the public hospital reception, the Emergency Department and Joondalup Private Hospital. The courtesy bus has capability for people with limited mobility, equipment, or prams.

Despite these changes, emergency vehicles will not be impacted, and visitors will still be able to drive into JHC to access the drop off and pick up locations for:

  • Emergency Department (ED)
  • public hospital main reception
  • private hospital main reception
  • discharge lounge
  • patient equipment centre
  • after-hours GP clinic.

JHC Redevelopment Coordinator Andrew McMurdo said directional signage and traffic controllers would be onsite to assist people visiting the campus.

“Basically we are doing all we can to minimise disruption to patients and visitors, but we do ask people to build in a few extra minutes to take into account the changes,” he said. “We apologise in advance for any inconvenience and thank visitors for their patience during this period.”

Andrew said the redevelopment would see more than 400 new car bays established on the campus.
