Medical Students

Joondalup Health Campus (JHC) participates in the training of medical students through clinical placements at JHC, including the specialties of Surgery, Anaesthesia, Emergency Medicine, Psychiatry and General Medicine.

We have recently opened the new Community Clinical School incorporating UWA, Curtin and Edith Cowan Universities and welcome you to use the facilities including a library, lecture rooms, simulation room and multiple tutorial rooms.

Paediatric Education

Paediatric education meetings are held weekly in the Community Clinical School and are presented by consultants and registrars.

Medical Grand Rounds

1pm – 2pm Fridays: Consultant led with guest speakers from specialised departments.

Mental Health

Medical students (Yrs 4 and 6) are embedded within the Mental Health Unit and undergo specific training with Professor Hans Stampfer. Mental Health education meetings are held in the JHC Mental Health Unit.

12.30pm-1:30pm Wednesdays
1pm – 2pm every second Monday – Journal Club

Surgical teaching

Medical Students – There are four eight week rotations each with 10 students. Students participate in two weeks of anaesthetics and six weeks of surgical ward work and theatre time. Students receive 12 lectures from Dr Paul Moroz and also attend the RMO Tutorials.

Surgical Interns and RMO's – On the job teaching plus three or four small groups of surgical specific tutorials from Dr Paul Moroz during their term. In addition, Interns and RMO's attend the RMO tutorials and can also attend the Medical Student tutorials.

RMO Tutorials – 10 tutorials offered over the course of the year on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 12.30pm, held in the JHC Conference Room (ground floor, F block).
