Joondalup Health Campus turns 10!
10 November 2008
On Friday 7 November 2008 the Joondalup Health Campus (JHC) community and distinguished guests enjoyed fine wine and gourmet food at the hospital’s 10 year anniversary bash. The event was held in an exquisitely decorated marquee set up in Neil Hawkins Park.
Senior politicians from both sides of parliament, senior members of local Government as well as key members of the health and business community were in attendance.
One hundred and ninety guests were treated to a performance by the West Australian Opera. Baritone Sitiveni Talei and Pianist Daniel Masmanian performed five mesmerising pieces. This recital was followed on by the cool sounds of Hip Mo Toast, Perth’s hottest jazz combo, playing sets through-out the night.
Diane Jones, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Joondalup Health Campus said the evening was a great success, “It provided us with an opportunity to reflect on how far we have come from our beginnings as a small outer urbane hospital, “she explained.
“Our integration into the health system is evidenced by the communities increasing reliance on the facility, as Perth’s northern corridor expands.”
Health Minister, the Honourable Dr Kim Hames, Deputy Premier, Minister for Health and Indigenous Affairs gave the formal address, representing the Premier.
He discussed how the then Premier, Richard Court was instrumental in the launch of the facility, officially opening the campus ten years ago. He also graciously congratulated his predecessor and fellow guest, the Honourable Mr Jim McGinty, for his involvement in the plans for the hospital’s proposed redevelopment.
He commended the hospital on its achievements over the last decade. He noted, “Over the last 12 months, the campus has dealt with more emergency and after hours GP presentations than Royal Perth Hospital.”
Joondalup Health Campus is the largest healthcare facility in Perth's Northern suburbs, providing 24-hour acute care from an integrated public and private campus.
