Joondalup Health Campus thanks nurses in a big way

12 May 2009

International Nurse’s Day (IND) is celebrated around the world every May 12, the anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth.  This day is to recognise all of the important contributions nurses make to society.

At some point in their lives, virtually all Australians will rely on the help of a nurse and with Joondalup’s growing population that need is likely to increase.

Joondalup Health Campus will thank their nurses and midwives for carrying out incredible work each and every day with free coffee and muffins on Tuesday 12 May.

Director of nursing Shane Combs said it was a small gesture to give something back to our hardworking nursing staff.

“It is very important we acknowledge the continued efforts of our nurses.  They often work in difficult and stressful circumstances and we appreciate and respect everything they do for our hospital and our community,” Mr Combs said.

The IND theme for 2009 is ‘Delivering quality, servicing communities: nurses leading care innovations.’
